KUCHING, 11 Oct: Kuching City FC proved their ability to compete at a higher level by eliminating Kelantan City FC 4-1 aggregate to secure a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Kuching City head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak described the success as proof of a team's quality capable of translating tactical planning into results on the pitch, especially when faced with the demand for a must-win mission.

According to him, the player's 90-minute commitment was an important factor in ensuring the team's mission was achieved, thus allowing The Cats to continue the challenge in the domestic competition.

However, he admitted that Kuching City were a bit busy at the end of the first half when they released one of Kelantan City's networks to open up opportunities to accumulate deficits.

"We have discussed during the break not to allow an opponent to conduct a free trial from their own territory.

"I think the players acted very well in the second half and continued to make commitments", he said at a press conference after the match.

Aidil also appreciated the players for their commitment to their responsibilities, stressing that the victory reflected the team's ability to meet set goals.

Commenting on qualifying for the semi-finals, Aidil said the result reinforced his confidence in Kuching City's ability to compete and step further in this season's FA Cup.

He hopes the momentum will be sustained, with The Cats now focusing on the next challenge in their quest for greater success.

The Cats squad is scheduled to face Hong Kong club Kitchee SC for the second leg of Group H Asian Champions League Two (ACL2) on 15 October at Taha Ariffin Stadium. - TVS
