KUCHING: Young footballers in Mukah will have a new platform to test themselves when the PETRONAS Youth Football Closed Tournament (PSK 14 & 16) kicks off on Saturday (Oct 10).
The Mukah edition is a new addition to the 2026 PETRONAS Youth Football Closed Tournament, expanding the programme’s reach while providing more opportunities for young players in the region to compete in a structured football environment.
The tournament, involving Under-14 and Under-16 categories, will feature eight Under-14 teams and nine Under-16 teams, with matches scheduled from Oct 10 to Nov 8.
The Mukah edition forms part of the wider PETRONAS youth football programme being staged across Sarawak, alongside Kuching and Bintulu, as part of efforts to develop grassroots football and identify young talent.
Matches will be played on a single-round league basis, with the top two teams from each category advancing to the Champions League/knockout stage.
The top two teams in both the Under-14 and Under-16 categories will then earn qualification to the PETRONAS Youth Football Champions League 2026.
The tournament gets underway at 2pm on Saturday following the pre-match ceremony at Padang Mesra MDDM, Mukah.
