KUCHING, Sept 23: Residents of Kampung Sagu here can now access treated water directly from the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) grid following the completion of a 6.2km pipeline extension costing RM1.7 million.
According to TVS, the pipeline extension from the JBALB Sarawak Rural Water Supply System main pipeline to Kampung Sagu was funded by the Sarawak Government and has been completed to provide residents with treated and clean water.
Minister for Utilities and Telecommunications Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, who is also Sebuyau assemblyman, said the water facility was among three development projects completed in the village with a combined value of RM2.25 million.
“I had the opportunity to officiate and share the joy of Kampung Sagu residents who now have access to treated and clean water from the JBALB Sarawak water grid,” he said in a statement today.
The village also received a new futsal court costing RM200,000 under Julaihi’s Rural Transformation Project (RTP) allocation.
The court was completed ahead of schedule and is among 26 futsal courts available across the Sebuyau constituency.
Julaihi said the facility would provide youths and local residents with a venue for sports and futsal activities during their leisure time.
A new RM350,000 community hall equipped with a badminton court was also completed under his RTP allocation.
With the completion of the hall, Sebuyau now has 35 community halls equipped with badminton courts, in addition to 13 community halls.
He said the facilities would support not only sports activities but also various social activities among villagers and longhouse residents, including celebrations and wedding receptions. — DayakDaily
