LIMBANG, 28 Sept: Implementation of various development projects since Malaysia's Eighth Plan (RMK-8) has been among the foundations for improving basic facilities, infrastructure and rural transport network in Bilan Division.
Deputy Minister of Transport, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said RMK-8 for the period 2001 to 2005 focused on implementation of development projects to improve public facilities and support socio-economic growth of local communities.
He said that among the important projects included Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR), rural transportation road as well as rural community and social facilities projects which are now being implemented for the benefit of the people.
"These projects have been fought since 2000, when RMK-8 was first, while I was still in the Public Works Department (JKR).
"The Ulu Lubai highway project, SSLR, Paya Lakap road, Batu Lake and Meritam, all are not new stories as they have been made and planned in the preparation period of 2000", he said.
He said this during his address to the People's Joint Leadership Council at Kampung Bunga Raya Hall here, today.
The Balance MP said that the implementation of the project reflects the government's continued efforts to improve facilities and infrastructure in Balance, thus laying the foundation for economic development as well as community welfare.
"Development through RMK-8 is also the foundation for continuity of projects in Malaysia's next plan to meet infrastructure and public facilities needs in the area", he said.
He said that his party and the representatives of people in Limbang will continue to fight for applications for development projects which have not yet been implemented before.
