THE Sarawak government has proposed combined ordinary and development allocations of RM24.943 billion under its 2027 State Budget.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said this comprised RM14.845 billion in ordinary expenditure and RM10.098 billion in development expenditure.
Of the ordinary expenditure, RM5.747 billion would cover operating expenses, while RM9.098 billion would be transferred to the Development Fund Account to support development spending.
“This appropriation serves to strengthen the balance carried forward in the Development Fund Account, ensuring adequate financing for the 2027 Development Expenditure, which has been budgeted at RM10.098 billion,” he said when tabling the Supply (2027) Bill, 2026 today (Oct 12).

Abang Johari said the development allocation was RM826 million (nine per cent) higher than this year’s original estimate and was among Sarawak’s highest development budgets.
“More than just figures, this significant allocation demonstrates the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s strong determination to make Sarawak a better place to live, a State that is prosperous and developed, where every Sarawakian can look forward to a brighter future,” he said.
For operating expenditure, RM2.024 billion would go towards supplies and services, RM1.976 billion for grants and fixed payments, and RM1.421 billion for personnel emoluments.
The grants and fixed payments include funding for statutory bodies and local authorities, public debt servicing, gratuities, pensions, scholarships, and financial and welfare assistance.
Another RM134 million would cover asset procurement, while RM192 million would be allocated for other operating expenses.
“We will also be appropriating RM300 million to Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund next year, ensuring that a portion of our revenues are preserved to benefit future generations,” he said.
Abang Johari said projected revenue of RM15.091 billion against ordinary expenditure of RM14.845 billion would yield a surplus of RM246 million.
“This surplus shows that Sarawak is managing its finances wisely — meeting today’s needs while preparing for tomorrow,” he said.
