KUCHING (April 8): The Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund (SSWF) is expected to continue expanding progressively, with a focus on diversifying its investment portfolio, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Awang Tengah said this approach aligns with SSWF’s long-term strategy and established risk tolerance.

He noted that the fund has shown positive progress since entering its investment implementation phase in 2025.

The initial phase involved investments in fixed-income instruments at both domestic and global levels, guided by capital preservation principles as the foundation of fund management.

“At the same time, efforts to be part of the global investment community, including participation in international forums, reflect the fund’s aspiration to grow into a globally recognised financial institution operating in accordance with international standards,” he said during the SSWF Hari Raya gathering held at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly.

The event was attended by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.

Awang Tengah added that the fund’s success does not depend on a single party but is the result of close collaboration among government agencies, strategic partners, and advisors.

He expressed hope that SSWF will continue to play a key role in supporting Sarawak’s development goals and serve as a catalyst for the state’s long-term prosperity.

Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister in the Premier’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai, and other distinguished guests.
