Syed Saddiq and Bella Astillah begin new chapter as husband and wife

KUCHING: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and singer-actress Bella Astillah were married on Saturday (Oct 10) in a ceremony held on the 118th floor of Menara Merdeka Maybank in Kuala Lumpur.

The couple were solemnised by Datuk Seri Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri at about 10.40 am, with a mas kahwin of RM500. About 300 family members, dignitaries and close friends attended the ceremony.

The ceremony also featured an exchange of hantaran, with seven trays from the groom’s side and nine from the bride’s.

Among those present were former prime ministers Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Singapore politician Pritam Singh.

Guests largely dressed in white in keeping with the ceremony’s Arab-Islamic theme.

The wedding celebrations will continue with a reception at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) on Oct 18.

The couple will then hold two Kenduri Rakyat celebrations – in Muar, Johor, on Oct 25 and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on Oct 31.

Syed Saddiq and Bella had announced their Oct 10 wedding date in August after becoming engaged earlier this year.
