PUTRAJAYA, Sept 28: Sarawak continues to strengthen the development agenda of Bumiputera through a 3-7-20 strategic framework.

Deputy Prime Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the framework focused on including Bumiputera's listing in Bursa Malaysia, development of Regional Business Champions and scale-up of micro enterprises to Indirian Berhad.

He clearly also focused on the expansion of local enterprises so as to be able to penetrate capital markets and expand to regional and global levels.

"The venture has recorded an achievement when United Asiapac Energy Berhad successfully listed on the ACE Bursa Malaysia Market on September 14 last with a market capitalization of RM192.50 million.

"The listing also managed to raise funds totaling RM48.74 million.

"Nine more Sarawak Bumiputera companies have been identified towards the listing, including two targeted in 2027", he said via a media statement from the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) of Sarawak today.

Earlier Awang Tengah attended the meeting of the JPMEB's 2/2026 Steering Committee in Putrajaya, on Monday.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is also Chairman of JPMEB.

In the meantime, he said Sarawak will expand Bumiputera's participation in high-growth sectors including hydrogen, petrochemical, advanced manufacturing, aerospace and semiconductors in line with Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

The Sarawak Government has made it clear that at the same time he promotes cooperation between Bumiputera and non-Bumiputera companies through partnerships, technology sharing, vendor development as well as market access.

"The approach aims to create a more inclusive and complementary Sarawak business ecosystem, as well as opening up opportunities for local companies to grow in regional and global supply chains.

"The talent development aspect is also continuing to be strengthened through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at CENTEXS and Sarawak Skills as well as cooperation with Federal agencies", he said.

The Sarawak Government also allocated RM250 million for the implementation of Free Tertiary Education Scheme from this year.

Cooperation between the Government of Sarawak and the Federal Government as well as the private sector is expected to continue to be strengthened in order to develop a more competitive local enterprise ecosystem and enable more Sarawak companies to grow at regional and global levels. - TVS
