KUCHING, Sept. 28: The opening of Zeekr Kuching Pop-up Store which is the first pop-up premium electric vehicle (EV) brand in Borneo, marks an important step in introducing Zeekr to the Sarawak market with a focus on customer experience and after-sales service.

Ivory Law, Head of Ghee Hua Mobility Distribution said that Sarawak has great potential in the premium EV segment, especially with the state's public openness to new technologies and experiences.

"As citizens of Sarawak, we are always ready to start something new and meet challenges. So when this premium segment was introduced in Sarawak, it wasn't just bringing in a brand.

"We want to bring it here, expand it and at the same time allow customers, consumers and communities to enjoy this premium electric vehicle segment", he said when meeting with TVS after the inauguration of Zeekr Kuching Pop-up Store here today.

According to him, customer trust is not only built through products, but long-term relationships and after sales support are among Ghee Hua Mobility's priorities.

"For customers, we believe that when they buy a car from us, they not only buy a car, but also acquire a friendship relationship and after-sales service", he said.

Ivory added that the Zeekr service centre in Kuching is expected to be operational by this year, while mobile services are already available to help customers while waiting for the facility to be completed.

Meanwhile, Zeekr Malaysia General Manager Eddy Lu said that the selection of Sarawak as the first step for Zeekr to expand its presence in East Malaysia was driven by cooperation with local partners who share the same aspiration in providing the best service and ownership experience to customers.

"We have a very strong partner here, whose business strategy and commitment to providing the best service to customers is consistent with Zeekr's commitment to always offer not only a car but also an excellent ownership experience to all customers", he said.

He said Zeekr, which entered the Malaysian market since late 2024, had sold almost 6,000 units nationwide, thus giving confidence to the brand to further expand its network.

"I think the opening of this pop-up store is just a start, which is a small step in our long-term plan to develop Zeekr's presence in Sarawak as well as East Malaysia", he explained.

According to Eddy, Zeekr also plans to create more facilities including exhibition halls and service centres in East Malaysia, especially Sarawak, in addition to cooperating with relevant parties in the provision of charging facilities.

The move is expected to facilitate the use of EVs and at the same time support a more comprehensive ownership experience for Zeekr customers in Sarawak. - TVS
