KUCHING, 13 Oct: A total of 1,059 applications for proposals for the new post of Chief Minister and Chief Minister (KMKK) across Sarawak including some areas in Lundu District are undergoing further evaluation and research process.

Deputy Minister in Sarawak's Premier Department (Law and Customs of Bumiputera), Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat said that all the applications have been examined on the basis of the requirements and general conditions for the establishment of new KMKK posts.

"The application under review will be submitted for consideration and approval", he said.

He said this while answering the question of Tanjong Datu Member of the National Assembly (DUN), Azizul Annuar Adenan at the 19th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Conference today.

Azizul requested clarification on the status of application for the creation of new post of Chief of the Society (Penghulu) for the Malay Sematan Zone submitted in 2021 through Lundu District Office to the administrative unit.

The application was made following the number of villages under existing ownership that were considered too many.
