The National Sports Day celebration has been postponed due to rain.

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 Oct: National level Sports Day (HSN) 2026 celebration scheduled to take place in Bukit Jalil tomorrow was postponed due to fog conditions affecting some areas of the country.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) in a statement today announced that the decision was made on public health and safety factors for participants, organizers and the public.

"The decision was made after consultation with relevant government agencies and taking into account current air quality developments.

"The new date of planning will be announced soon, subject to the restoration of air quality to a safe level for outdoor activities", according to the statement.

Meanwhile, KBS said that HSN's promotion at the state level and other locations is subject to local circumstances as well as the regulations of their respective administrations.

The ministry said that the celebrations in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Kedah, Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka were also postponed.

"However, receptions in Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Perlis, Perak, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan Federal Territories continued as planned", he said.

In this regard, KBS urges the public to restrict physical activity outdoors for the time being and follow health advice and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and Department of Environment (Department of Environment). -TVS
