KUCHING: National men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia has applied for an interim injunction to restrict his father and sister from making certain financial and corporate decisions involving LZJ Management Sdn Bhd amid an ongoing legal dispute.

According to Scoop, the application was filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on July 2, with Zii Jia naming his father Lee Chee Hin, older sister Lee Zii Yii, younger brother Lee Tao and LZJ Management as respondents.

Zii Jia is seeking to restrain Chee Hin and Zii Yii, both directors of the company, from approving directors’ fees, allowances, bonuses or other financial benefits for themselves beyond their monthly salaries while the case is pending.

The application also seeks restrictions on decisions involving the appointment or removal of directors, appointment of the company secretary, major asset disposals, issuance of new shares and changes to the company’s shareholding structure without prior court approval.

Court documents cited by Scoop show Zii Jia claims to hold a 90 per cent stake in LZJ Management, while Zii Yii holds nine per cent and Tao one per cent.

He is also seeking a court order for the company to convene an extraordinary general meeting to address its management and governance.

Zii Jia said in his supporting affidavit that an attempt to hold an EGM in December last year could not proceed because the required quorum was not met. His application contends that the company is facing a management and administrative deadlock.

The application is being contested.

In affidavits filed in response, Chee Hin, Zii Yii and Tao disputed the allegations and challenged the relief sought, with Chee Hin maintaining that the company had continued managing matters related to Zii Jia’s professional badminton career.

The matter remains before the High Court
